Volunteer Community Hospital (VCH) Announces 2009 Patient Choice Award Winner

Martin, TN (June 10, 2009) - Each year VCH recognizes the best of the best in our team of nurses.  We ask our patients or family members who have come to us for inpatient, outpatient or emergency care in the last year to tell us who they’d like to thank for going the extra mile and to tell us about their experience.  After many great stories, one name stood out above the rest.

Mary Tolbert, LPN, has been named the 2009 Patient Choice Award Winner.  Mary is one of VCH’s 127 nurses, who provide excellent quality care everyday.  Mary provides care to patients in the intensive care unit and has been employed at VCH since August 2003.  From the nominations received, one patient stated, “Miss Mary is a kind and caring person.  She cares about her patients with a loving heart and the knowledge of an excellent LPN.” 

Another of Mary’s patients shared, “She is the best nurse in the hospital.  She is a very caring and loving person.  She takes wonderful care of her patients.”

“Mary is an asset to our nursing team.  She is a very dedicated and skilled individual who puts her patients first,” stated Donna Barfield, chief nursing officer.  Please join VCH in congratulating Mary for being recognized by her patients for the excellent care and compassion that she provides everyday.
